Local CPA firm founded in 2010 and headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida. The Rock Hill, SC office has been operated by the current owner for over 10 years and is supported by two experienced tax preparers. The Rock Hill office is seeking a Tax Manager to step into a key leadership role and ensure a smooth transition as the current owner plans for succession.

Experienced Tax Manager with strong individual income tax preparation expertise to oversee a high‑volume personal tax practice. This role is hands‑on and client‑facing, with responsibility for preparing, reviewing, and signing individual tax returns, as well as serving as the escalation point for two tenured preparers.

This position is primarily on‑site during the busy tax season, with the opportunity for mainly remote work during the remainder of the year.

• Prepare, review, and sign individual income tax returns (800+ simple, high‑volume returns annually)
• Serve as the primary escalation point and technical resource for two experienced tax preparers
• Ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely filing of all assigned returns
• Use Drake Tax software (or quickly become proficient)
• Maintain strong client relationships and provide professional tax guidance
• Support limited off‑season work, which may include business tax returns or accounting tasks

• Strong experience in individual tax preparation (public accounting or dedicated tax prep background)
• Active PTIN with the ability to review and sign tax returns
• Comfortable with hands‑on preparation and high‑volume workloads
• Prior experience using Drake Tax software preferred
• Strong communication and leadership skillsl>
• Ability to work effectively with long‑tenured, experienced staff

Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual's skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs.
