About the CompanyA fast-growing, private equity–backed consumer products company is seeking a Senior Accounting Manager to join its finance leadership team. This is a high-impact role responsible for GAAP-compliant accounting operations, month‑end close leadership, cost accounting, and process optimization in a scaling environment.
About the RoleThis position reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer and works closely with the Controller and executive leadership team. The ideal candidate brings a strong mix of hands‑on accounting leadership, manufacturing or CPG experience, and the ability to thrive in a data‑driven, high‑growth, PE‑backed organization. This role offers a hybrid work model, balancing in‑office collaboration with flexibility for focused remote work.
Candidates should be comfortable engaging with the team in person as needed.
- Lead and manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Lead accounting operations within a manufacturing or consumer products environment, including revenue recognition, inventory accounting, cost accounting, and margin analysis
- Oversee GAAP compliance, accounting policies, and internal controls
- Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
- Own cost accounting, including BOM management, SKU profitability, and inventory valuation
- Partner with cross‑functional teams on profitability analysis, financial reporting, and decision support
- Support working capital management, including AR/AP metrics and treasury reporting
- Drive process improvements, automation, and scalability within accounting operations
- Manage and support the annual audit process and auditor requests
- Ensure integrity and accuracy of the general ledger and financial data
- Support tax, treasury, and other finance‑related initiatives as needed
- Lead and mentor accounting team members, fostering a collaborative, high‑performance culture
- Participate in special projects related to system enhancements, process optimization, and growth initiatives
- Ensure audit readiness by establishing and maintaining clear accounting policies, procedures, SOPs, and internal controls, with strong documentation standards
- Support purchase accounting and acquisition‑related testing, including readiness for audits and financial reviews
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required)
- CPA strongly preferred
- 8–10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibility
- Required experience in manufacturing, consumer packaged goods (CPG), or product‑based environments
- Strong expertise in cost accounting, BOMs, inventory, and margin analysis
- Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting
- Experience leading close processes in a fast‑paced or PE‑backed environment
- ERP experience required (Sage experience a plus)
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with reporting and analytics tools preferred
Competitive compensation package ($120,000–$135,000) and 13% bonus.
