Position Overview:
Our company seeks an experienced accounting professional from the insurance industry experienced in overseeing financial reporting, GAAP compliance and insurance industry regulations, and the ability to provide valuable insights that support strategic decision-making, to join us as a Regional Senior Accountant for our West & South-Central regional operations. This role will report to the Regional Controller and will assist agency partners of Patriot in delivering accurate, timely, and meaningful financial results, while also assisting in the development of our regional accounting team.

Work location and arrangement:
This position is a full-time, fully remote position.

Professional Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for designated agencies in compliance with GAAP
  • Lead month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals
  • Maintain and analyze general ledgers to ensure accurate financial reporting
  • Partner with organizational leadership to prepare meaningful financial reports and variance analyses
  • Ensure adherence to internal controls, accounting policies, and regulatory requirements
  • Support annual audits and revenue recognition processes by preparing the required documentation
  • Assist with the budgeting, forecasting, and process improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate with Patriot agency contacts to resolve discrepancies and ensure efficient operations
  • Oversee operational accounting areas including commissions, premium payables, and cash management
  • Mentor and guide any assigned accounting staff to support their professional growth
Qualifications And Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, Finance, or a Business-related field
  • 3+ years of relevant accounting experience in the insurance industry
  • Prior supervisory experience over other staff accountants
  • CPA or progress toward the CPA certification is preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP and insurance brokerage financial reporting
  • Proficiency in financial statement preparation and analysis
  • Prior work experience with Applied Epic or other insurance agency management systems (AMS)
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office Suite tools
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, large datasets) and comfort with high-volume data analysis
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written)
  • Exceptional organizational and analytical skills
  • Proven ability to build strong working relationships across teams and lead with integrity
