Accounting Supervisor - 4 month temp contract
Accounting Supervisor (4 month contract) – Durham, NC
Our client is seeking a skilled Accounting Supervisor for a January 2nd or 5th start date. This 4‑month contract covers a maternity leave, with a target pay rate of $43.00 per hour. Work weeks are 40 hours, Monday‑Friday standard business hours. The schedule is hybrid, with onsite work Tuesday‑Thursday and remote work Monday/Friday.
This hands‑on accounting role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety and autonomy. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will perform day‑to‑day accounting functions and supervise the Accounting Clerk. You’ll collaborate with other teams across departments to ensure accurate and reliable financial data and reporting.
Core Accounting Duties- Manage general ledger and month‑end close, including journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
- Oversee Accounts Payable processes; ensure timely and accurate transactions and communication with vendors.
- Review and correct GL expense coding as needed.
- Administer company cards and monitor spending.
- Maintain daily cash forecasts and support monthly cash reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Ensure compliance with sales tax, franchise tax, and corporate income tax filings.
- Support annual audits and provide required documentation.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Maintain product cost data and reconcile inventory and COGS.
- Conduct product margin reviews and collaborate on pricing decisions.
- Drive process improvements and enhance internal controls.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (operations, supply chain, e‑commerce) to ensure data accuracy and alignment.
- Provide financial insights and ad‑hoc reporting to leadership.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA preferred.
- 3+ years of progressive accounting experience; experience in a small business or entrepreneurial environment preferred.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting best practices.
- Proficiency with accounting systems (e.g., Sage Intacct, Cashflow
360/, or similar) is a must. - Excellent Excel skills and experience with financial reporting tools.
- Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities independently.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and a collaborative mindset.
