Accounting Manager; Accounting Firm

Remote (US Only) with optional In-Person in Houston, TX

Fin Optimal began in 2015 as a side-hustle of a CFO and Controller who despised manual accounting work. Fin Optimal raised venture capital in late 2021 to expand our accounting and technology offerings, and in 2023 launched our flagship app Accruer. In Q1 and Q2 2024 we released Booker and Wrangler respectively, with more apps releasing this year. The company operates two distinct business lines:
Apps and Managed Accounting. This role is designed to primarily support the Managed Accounting business line.

This is a role for someone who wants to fast-track their growth and take on increasing responsibility.

• Own the month-end close and deliver accurate, on-time financials for your client portfolio.
• Prepare and review financial statements, mentoring associates who support your book of business.
• Anticipate client needs and provide thoughtful, proactive solutions.
• Streamline workflows by optimizing automated and manual bookkeeping processes.
• Improve processes and train others, raising the bar for both clients and teammates.

• Self-starter mindset with a drive to exceed expectations.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and client service skills.
• Comfortable with technology and leveraging tools to improve workflows.
• 3–5 years of accounting/controller/FP&A and client-facing experience.
• Strong knowledge of accounting best practices, Quick Books Online, and spreadsheets (Excel/Google Sheets).
• CPA and/or public accounting experience strongly preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.

• $100,000 - $130,000 annual salary depending on experience
