We are a actively seeking a Tax Manager, a joyful and driven team member who will oversee and manage tax compliance, planning, and review for a portfolio of clients while mentoring and supporting our staff. This role blends strong technical tax expertise with people‑focused leadership to ensure high‑quality client service, accurate deliverables, and the professional growth of the team. The Tax Manager will report directly to the Head of Tax and will collaborate closely with other team members to deliver exceptional client and team experiences.

Professional Skills
  • 5+ years of public accounting experience, with expertise in tax compliance for individuals, S Corporations, C Corporations, and Partnerships/LLCs.
  • Skilled in federal, state, and local tax compliance and reporting, including multi‑state filings and specialized areas such as R&D credits, and PTET elections.
  • Experience reviewing and signing tax returns, conducting first‑level reviews of staff work, and providing actionable feedback.
  • Skilled in research, responding to tax notices, and supporting tax planning initiatives.
  • Proficiency with tax and accounting software (Lacerte and Quick Books Online preferred, Karbon is a plus).
  • CPA or EA license required.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly adapt to new technologies and software.
What does the day to day look like for this role?

As a Tax Manager, you will work with a department of 5 other individuals serving approximately 100 clients representing around 200 returns. We expect this to grow in the coming years as we look to grow our tax department alongside our blossoming CAS business. Your primary responsibilities are to:

  • Oversee tax compliance and review for a portfolio of clients, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to regulations.
  • Serve as the primary contact for clients, addressing tax inquiries, delivering ad hoc projects, and providing high‑quality solutions.
  • Conduct first reviews of tax work prepared by staff, provide constructive feedback, and support their professional development.
  • Mentor and train team members, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment.
  • Stay current with tax laws, regulations, and client opportunities, identifying proactive planning strategies.
  • Assist in process improvement initiatives to enhance internal workflows and client service.
