Director Of Accounting Operations (Fully Remote – EST Preferred)
We are recruiting on behalf of a global telecommunications managed services provider specializing in managed IT, network solutions, and unified communications. This is a full-time, direct hire position offering a fully-remote work environment. Can sit anywhere in the US, with a strong preference for EST.
This is a newly elevated leadership role reporting directly to the CAO and is ideal for a hands‑on accounting professional who enjoys building structure, improving processes, and actively owning the close—not just overseeing it.
Position OverviewThe Director of Accounting Operations will be responsible for strengthening and scaling the company’s accounting function as it continues to grow. This role blends strategic leadership with day‑to‑day execution and will play a critical role in improving close discipline, documentation, controls, and audit readiness. While the team currently includes a mix of U.S.
-based professionals and international contractors, there is a long‑term vision to evolve the team structure over time.
- Own and drive the monthly close process, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting
- Manage core general ledger activities including reconciliations, journal entries, and multi‑entity accounting
- Establish consistent close schedules, documentation standards, and review controls
- Partner closely with international accounting resources to improve quality, accountability, and workflows
- Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and close checklists to support scalability
- Support audits by preparing schedules, documentation, and technical accounting support
- Assist senior leadership with financial reporting, compliance requirements, and lender‑related reporting
- Research and document accounting treatment for complex or non‑routine transactions
- Identify opportunities for automation, system enhancements, and process efficiencies
- Act as a working leader and mentor, setting expectations and elevating accounting standards across the team
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA required
- 5–10+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within a smaller or growth‑oriented organization
- Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and accounting best practices
- Demonstrated success improving close timelines, controls, or accounting processes
- Comfortable being both strategic and hands‑on
- Experience working with distributed or international accounting teams is strongly preferred
- Familiarity with Quick Books Desktop is a plus
- Industry experience in telecom, technology, or managed services is helpful but not required
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a fully remote environment
- Salary range: $150,000–$160,000
- Fully remote role (Eastern Time preferred)
- No physical office—100% distributed workforce
- Initial 30‑minute virtual interview with the Chief Accounting Officer
