AboutThe Role
Own full-cycle bookkeeping and payroll for a portfolio of client businesses. Deliver clean monthly closes, accurate payroll, and reliable work papers that support tax preparation. This position offers the flexibility of working in-office, hybrid, or remotely.
What You’ll Do- Quick Books Online ownership: record and classify transactions, maintain the chart of accounts, manage bank feeds, and post adjusting entries
- Monthly close: reconcile bank, credit card, loan, and payroll clearing accounts; tie subledgers to the general ledger; produce month-end reports
- Accounts payable: process vendor bills, schedule payments, maintain 1099 vendor data, and support year-end 1099 filing
- Payroll administration: run biweekly payroll, maintain deductions and benefits, review payroll journals, and flag compliance risks
- Controls and documentation: maintain standardized work papers, check figures and coding, and document positions for reviewer sign-off
- Client communication: gather documents, set expectations, resolve discrepancies, and close each month on time
- Tax support: prepare clean trial balances and schedules that enable timely income, payroll, and information return filings
- On-time monthly closes for assigned clients
- First-pass accuracy on reconciliations and work papers
- Clear, proactive status updates and issue escalation
- Zero unresolved unreconciled differences at month end
- 2+ years recent bookkeeping experience in industry or public practice
- Advanced Quick Books Online proficiency
- Hands-on payroll processing experience (Paycor experience is a plus)
- Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills (lookups, pivots, text/date functions)
- Ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently or with a team
- Clear written and verbal communication
- Experience with Keeper.app
- Multi-entity or multi-location clients; inventory or job-costing
- Exposure to sales/use tax and 1099 compliance
- Experience in a CPA firm supporting tax teams
- Quick Books Pro Advisor or payroll certifications
- Quick Books Online

Remote or hybrid, U.S. time zones. Flexible scheduling aligned to client deadlines.
EducationHigh school diploma required. Coursework in accounting or a 2- to 4-year degree preferred.
