Senior Accountant – Contract Accounting (Percentage of Completion)

We are seeking an experienced and highly reliable Senior Accountant to support our contract accounting function. This role is focused on percentage-of-completion (POC) accounting, progress billings, and maintaining accurate, well-documented project financial records. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, dependable, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.

• Perform contract accounting using the percentage-of-completion (POC) method
• Set up and maintain customer and project contracts in the accounting system
• Process vendor invoices, ensuring accuracy, proper coding, and approvals
• Prepare and submit progress billings in accordance with contract terms
• Compile and manage required billing support, including:
  • Schedules of Values (SOVs)
  • Lien waivers and lien- related documentation
  • Other contract-required supporting documents
• Reconcile job costs, billings, and revenue recognition
• Maintain organized, audit-ready accounting records
• Collaborate with internal teams to resolve billing or cost discrepancies
• Assist with month-end close activities related to contract accounting

• Proven experience with contract accounting, specifically the POC method
• Strong understanding of job cost accounting and progress billing
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently with little or no supervision
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
• Experience with Great Plains (Microsoft Dynamics GP) accounting software a must.

• Accounting degree or equivalent professional experience
• Background in construction, manufacturing, or project-based accounting environments
• Familiarity with lien laws and compliance documentation
