The Company’s investor list includes top-tier venture capital firms and strategic investors. The Controller will lead the accounting department and work closely with the CFO and others on the senior leadership team, to lay the accounting foundation for Booster’s next phase.
This is a senior, cross-functional role charged with understanding every facet of the company’s financial statements, accounting and treasury operations. This is an exciting time as Booster is seeking to mature the accounting function more fully within the company and create the necessary accounting processes and controls for the Company’s next phase of growth.
Booster is seeking a Controller with a very strong technical understanding of GAAP who proactively stays informed of any new and applicable FASB guidance. It is also important that this individual has proven experience preparing and leading a robust organization through clean Big 4 (or BDO, Grant Thornton, RSM) audits, and has the desire and ability to get into the weeds, improve processes, and work cross-functionally across the organization.
Ideally this is a hybrid role, where this individual will already be residing in Southern California with the ability to commute to the Orange County, CA office one to two times a week. We will consider fully remote positions for highly-qualified candidates who live outside of Southern California.

- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements.
- Fully manage external audits, and have the acumen to engage and walk Big 4 auditors through detailed technical accounting matters.
- Coordinate monthly/quarterly filings and yearly tax returns, periodic government filings, registrations, business and tax licenses.
- Reconcile and account for stock option plans, loan agreements, leasing arrangements to ensure accurate accounting to the latest GAAP guidance.
- Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements.
- Ensure compliance with SOX and maintain effective internal controls.
- Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and process improvements.
- Partner with FP&A and senior leadership to support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic initiatives.
- Lead implementations of treasury and payroll systems.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team, including remote team members in the U.S. and the Philippines.
- Support special projects such as system implementations, technical accounting research, and M&A activities.
- Bachelor’s degree with a CPA (active or inactive).
- At least 4-5 years of audit experience at a nationally recognized accounting firm (Big 4, BDO, Grant Thornton, RSM).
- At least 6-7 years of experience as a Controller, with preference given to some experience within a publicly traded company.
- Strong technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SOX compliance.
- Proven experience managing multiple years of clean audits from nationally recognized accounting firms.
- Willingness to get into detail where required and be a “doer”.
- Advanced proficiency in accounting systems.
- Prior experience with Net Suite.
- Prior experience in a fast-paced or “start-up” environment.
- Controller and/or audit experience with PCAOB audits.
- Proven experience leading implementations of new accounting, treasury, or payroll systems.
- Currently residing in Southern California, with the ability to commute to the Orange County, CA office one to two times a week.
