Tax Accountant
Blue Penguin is a unique accounting firm. But everyone says that, right?
Here’s what’s different:
Every team member is treated as a business partner, with their rewards tied to the value they bring to clients. We emphasise working with clients where we can deliver true value and ensure a perfect fit. We only work with clients if we like them – not just because they have a pulse and a chequebook
We believe in quality and connection rather than taking on every opportunity. If you’re all about accounting and building strong client relationships, Blue Penguin could be the perfect place for you.
TLDR:
The more clients you can look after, and keep happy, the more you’ll earn.
We are seeking a Qualified or Part-Qualified Accountant for a flexible hybrid role at our Taunton office. This could be part‑time or full‑time, depending on your preference.
The majority of the work will be accounts preparation and tax return work, so we need someone who already has experience working in an accountancy practice.
Once you’re part of the furniture, we’d be happy for you to work from home for some of the week, with a minimum of two days a week in our office at Hestercombe House – loads of parking, dog‑friendly, and makes a change from a 1980’s business park by a motorway junction.
Absolute Must‑HavesWe’ll NEVER use AI in our recruiting process. It sucks.
But I understand why a lot of firms do – job posts like this attract 100+ applications, most of which are totally unsuitable, either from people with no experience whatsoever, or from people who aren’t even based in the UK.
So, to be fair to both of us, please only apply if you can tick these boxes:
- Able to work from our office near Taunton, Somerset
- Qualified or Part‑Qualified accountant (ideally ACCA or ACA, but would consider AAT Level
4) - Experience working in a UK accountancy practice
- Already have the right to work in the UK
Great question. We could just put “competitive” or “negotiable” and make you waste your time finding out if it’s enough to pay your bills.
It’ll depend on experience of course, and the value you can bring to our firm, but essentially it’s going to be c. £30K for someone who is part‑qualified with little experience, possibly as high as £40K for someone qualified with a few years’ accounts work under their belt who can hit the ground running and be client‑facing from day one.
