About Minga
At Minga, we're creating the Student Behavior Platform schools can't imagine running without. We're on a mission to make school life run smoother and have fun while we're at it.

We're a tight-knit team of curious, creative, and low-ego humans who genuinely enjoy working together. We care deeply about the work we do and the people we do it with, and that shows up in how we lead, collaborate, and celebrate.

Our culture is built on trust, ownership, and continuous learning. Whether you're working from our Kelowna HQ or remotely, you'll have the autonomy to do your best work, the support to grow, and the opportunity to make a real impact in the lives of educators and students.

The Role
We're not just hiring for a position, we're adding a teammate. Someone who wants to help build what's next, take real ownership, and grow with us along the way.

We're looking for an Accounting Manager who is as comfortable leading a small team as they are diving into the numbers. Reporting to the VP of Finance, you'll oversee the accounting function, ensure compliance with Canadian accounting standards, and provide accurate financial insights that support Minga's growth. You'll own the record-to-report, procure-to-pay, and invoicing processes.

You will manage a Junior Accountant, providing mentorship and guidance while maintaining hands‑on involvement in day‑to‑day accounting operations.

What You’ll Do

Lead and mentor the Junior Accountant, fostering a collaborative and high‑performing environment.

Oversee day‑to‑day accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and taxes.

Ensure timely and accurate month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close processes.

Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with Canadian Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises.

Implement and maintain accounting policies, internal controls, and process improvements.

Partner with the VP of Finance and other leaders to provide insights, forecasts, and analysis supporting strategic decisions.

Manage external auditors and tax advisors during reviews, audits, and filings.

Ensure compliance with local, provincial, federal, and US tax regulations.

What We Require

CPA designation required.

5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including prior management or supervisory experience.

Proven ability to lead and develop at least one direct report.

Strong technical knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and compliance.

Experience implementing or improving accounting systems and processes.

Experience with Quickbooks, Netsuite, or similar ERP is an asset.

Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills.

Comfort working in a fast‑paced, high‑growth environment.

IFRS, US GAAP, and US tax compliance experience is a plus!

Who You Are

A trusted leader: you balance attention to detail with big‑picture thinking.

A builder at heart: you thrive on creating scalable processes that make a difference.

Collaborative: you work seamlessly across teams and communicate complex financial information clearly.

Adaptable: you navigate ambiguity with curiosity and confidence.

Passionate about your craft and the people you lead
