Practice Accountant

We're looking for an accountant who has a logical approach and high levels of accuracy. You will have experience of management accounts, including cash flows and budgets, year-end accounts, VAT returns and bookkeeping. If you're looking for a flexible part‑time role, this could be just right!

Our client is a growing owner‑managed accountancy practice mainly servicing the entertainment and media industry but they also have clients in other sectors. Based in Biggleswade, they have continued to thrive during the recent crisis and are now looking for accounting support to help them continue to grow.

The role is varied and interesting with lots of autonomy and the opportunity to make a difference. The role covers all areas of accountancy including VAT, PAYE, bookkeeping, management accounts and accounts production. You will be reporting to the very friendly owner and dealing with clients as necessary. A variety of software is used so adaptability is important.

• Quick Books Online (clients also use Xero)
• Dext (formerly Receipt Bank)
• Iris for year‑end accounts production and tax
• Payroll Manager
• Microsoft Office

The ideal candidate will be able to work independently without the need for constant supervision. Training of junior employees would also be a requirement.

The main requirement is excellent basic accounting skills, a logical approach and high levels of accuracy. You will have experience of:

• Producing management accounts, including cash flows and budgets
• A bookkeeping or accounting qualification is not essential, qualified by experience is considered just as important
• Drafting year‑end accounts
• Producing VAT returns
• Processing bookkeeping
• Accountancy practice experience is essential

• The role is available on a part‑time basis working a minimum of 3 days per week (or equivalent) with a lot of flexibility around how hours are worked.
• The role will be based at the office in St Neots with onsite café and gym, and home working is also available.
• A salary of approximately £50k FTE is on offer (dependent on experience).
• 28 days holiday (including Bank Holidays)

Full time equivalent actual salary will depend on hours worked.
