This is a full-time Senior Accountant role based in Peterborough with a hybrid working arrangement, allowing some work from home. The Senior Accountant will manage a portfolio of property industry clients, preparing and reviewing statutory accounts, management accounts, and tax computations. Responsibilities include overseeing bookkeeping and reconciliations, reviewing VAT returns, and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting and tax regulations. The role involves advising clients on property‑related tax matters, supporting tax planning initiatives, and responding to technical queries.
The Senior Accountant will also mentor junior team members, review their work, and contribute to improving internal processes and workflows. Regular communication with clients, including meetings and written correspondence, is expected to maintain strong professional relationships and deliver high‑quality service.
- Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, or equivalent), or substantial progress toward qualification.
- Strong experience in practice accounting, ideally with exposure to the property sector.
- Proficiency in preparing and reviewing statutory and management accounts, including balance sheet reconciliations and working papers.
- Solid knowledge of UK tax compliance for businesses and individuals, including CT, VAT, and income tax; experience with property‑related tax matters is an advantage.
- Comfort using accounting and tax software, spreadsheets, and cloud‑based tools; ability to adapt quickly to new systems.
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and numerical skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts in accessible language.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple deadlines, prioritize workload, and work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid environment.
- Experience supervising or mentoring junior team members, including reviewing work and providing constructive feedback.
- Commitment to professional ethics, confidentiality, and continuous learning in accounting and tax developments.
