The RoleThe Senior Accounts Payable Clerk will be a key support to the Finance Manager, overseeing the end-to-end accounts payable function for Virgin Bet South Africa. This role is critical in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of supplier invoices, managing payment runs, maintaining supplier reconciliations, and handling vendor queries. The ideal candidate will also assist the wider finance team with basic reconciliations and month‑end administrative tasks in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment.
Key Responsibilities Accounts Payable and Payments- Assist with accounts payable and payment processing
- Maintain strong internal controls to ensure smooth operations.
- Support the preparation of balance sheet reconciliations.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts.
- Support the finance team in ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
- Liaise with internal and external auditors during audit engagements.
- Ensure financial records are maintained in an audit‑ready state.
- Assist with VAT and other statutory submissions.
- Ensure compliance with relevant tax legislation and internal controls.
- Someone with a solid grounding in accounting and tax principles.
- Qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Proven experience with multi‑currency environments and month‑end close processes.
- Proven experience with bank reconciliations, supplier reconciliations, payment processing, and management accounts.
- Experience with accounting systems, preferably Quick Books.
- Exposure to online gaming, fintech, e‑commerce, technology, or other high‑volume transaction environments is advantageous.
- Excellent attention to detail and high levels of accuracy.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage competing deadlines.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Proactive, adaptable, and able to thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
