This role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth financial operation of the firm and supporting the leadership team with accurate and timely reporting. Day-to-day of the role:
Oversee the Work in Progress (WIP) and liaise with fee-earners to ensure all time entries are recorded accurately and processed in accordance with the month-end timetable. Manage the billing process, including liaising with fee earners to produce accurate and timely bills, applying the correct VAT treatment, billing disbursements accurately, and ensuring foreign currency bills are correctly presented. Maintain accurate fee-earner billing rates by matter in our accounting software Process necessary write-offs accurately.
Record day-to-day financial transactions for client accounts across multiple currencies and prepare daily bank reconciliations. Assist external accountants with the year-end SRA audit. Oversee the credit control process, including liaising with clients to arrange payments, sending payment reminders, and preparing interest calculations as necessary. Set up weekly supplier payment runs and enter purchase ledger invoices and payments into our accounting system, ensuring all VAT is applied accurately.
Prepare daily bank reconciliations and monthly credit card expenditure reconciliations. Prepare and post payroll expenses and salary journals. Prepare month-end accruals, prepayments, and prepare the accounts to trial balance level. Ensure balance sheet nominal codes are reconciled monthly. Assist with the preparation of ad-hoc financial information as needed by the leadership team. Required Skills &
Qualifications:
At least 5 years’ experience in a similar role; legal experience preferable but not essential. Minimum of AAT or equivalent qualification. Strong proficiency in financial software and technology; P4W experience preferred. Excellent organisational abilities and ability to manage multiple deadlines. High degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Proficiency in English and MS Office, particularly MS Excel. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Knowledge of SRA accounting rules beneficial but not essential. Benefits:
