This is a full-time hybrid Accountant role based in South Africa, combining on-site work in Kathu with some work-from-home flexibility. The Accountant will manage day-to-day financial activities, including processing invoices, capturing transactions, reconciling bank statements, and maintaining accurate general ledger records. Responsibilities include preparing monthly management accounts, assisting with budgeting and forecasting, monitoring cash flow, and supporting year-end audit processes. The role will also involve preparing tax-related documentation, ensuring compliance with relevant financial regulations, and supporting financial reporting for management and external stakeholders.
The Accountant will collaborate with operations and management teams to provide financial insights that support effective decision-making and cost control.
- Strong accounting and bookkeeping skills, including general ledger management, bank reconciliations, and preparation of financial statements.
- Knowledge of tax compliance and regulatory requirements applicable in South Africa, with the ability to prepare supporting documentation and reports.
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel, including working with spreadsheets, financial data analysis, and reporting tools.
- Effective organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information to non-finance stakeholders and collaborate across teams.
- Relevant qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (e.g., diploma or degree); professional certifications (such as SAIPA, SAICA, or similar) are beneficial.
- Experience in waste management, environmental services, or related industries is an advantage, but not a requirement.
- Demonstrated integrity, reliability, and commitment to maintaining accurate financial records and confidential information.
