About The Accounts Manager Role

TC MMG is seeking an experienced Accounts Manager to join our growing practice in Scotland. This role provides an opportunity to manage a varied portfolio of clients, mentor colleagues and contribute to the continued growth of our business while enjoying flexible and hybrid working arrangements.

- Manage a portfolio of client assignments, ensuring timely and accurate completion of accounts and tax preparation.
- Maintain direct communication with clients to gather information, provide updates and explain outputs where required.
- Attend client meetings to present financial information and address queries.
- Onboard new clients and effectively integrate them, dealing with scoping, pricing, delivery and payment.
- Handle fee proposals, billing and direct debit responsibilities.
- Provide support, assistance and cover for Assistants and Advisors as required, demonstrating the ability to undertake their responsibilities when necessary.
- Review work and provide regular feedback.
- Schedule and allocate work within the portfolio, providing technical guidance to Assistants and Advisors when needed.
- Stay up to date with developments in accounting and tax relevant to your responsibilities and ensure this knowledge is shared with the team.
- Keep informed about updates to software tools in use and train staff accordingly.
- Maintain a log of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and deliver training sessions to both staff and clients as appropriate.
- Ensure that all processes and checklists are followed and kept up to date.
- Ensure all statutory deadlines for accounts and tax return submissions are met.
- Oversee and contribute to the preparation and review of accounts and tax work, including relevant analyses, assumptions and supporting explanations.
- Professional accounting qualification (e.g., CA, ACCA) or evidence of equivalent experience and knowledge.
- Proficient in the use of all relevant accounting systems and platforms used internally or on behalf of clients.
- Strong understanding of general accounting principles and in-depth knowledge of industry/sector‑specific issues affecting clients.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients and team members through various channels.
- Demonstrates professionalism, a helpful demeanour and enthusiasm in daily work.
