Senior Accountant
Working Arrangement:
On-site / Hybrid (Mainly office-based, 9:00am-5:00pm, with flexibility up to 1 day working from home)

As a Senior Accountant, you will play a key role in delivering accurate, timely, and commercially focused accounting services to a varied portfolio of small-to-medium businesses (with turnovers up to £6 million). You will support clients through compliant financial management, statutory reporting, taxation requirements, and ongoing advisory, taking over key responsibilities in a restructured team following internal progression. This role requires strong technical accounting capability across accounts, tax, and payroll, combined with excellent communication skills and a flexible, all-round approach.

Job Responsibilities
- Prepare statutory annual accounts for limited companies, sole traders, partnerships, and LLPs.
- Prepare and submit personal tax returns (self-assessments), corporation tax, and quarterly VAT returns within strict deadlines.
- Process client payroll using specialised software (Money Soft, Q-TAC, etc.) or assist/learn payroll systems as required.
- Utilise accounts preparation software proficiently, specifically Tax Calc and Quick Books.
- Build and maintain trusted professional relationships with clients, providing prompt support and advice on accounting matters.
- Handle charity accounts preparation where applicable (desirable).
- Maintain a flexible and practical approach to supporting day-to-day practice needs in a close-knit, office-based environment.
Job Requirements
- Qualifications:
Fully qualified (ACA / ACCA) or Qualified by Experience (QBE) with substantial time spent in practice. - Experience:
Proven background in accounts preparation and client management within an accountancy practice environment. - Software
Skills:
Proficiency with Tax Calc, Quick Books, Money Soft, or Q-TAC is highly advantageous, alongside willingness to learn new software. - Technical Knowledge:
Solid understanding of limited company statutory accounts, VAT processes, payroll processing, and personal/business tax. - Core Competencies:
Excellent organisation and communication skills, strong attention to detail, and a collaborative, approachable attitude suited to a smaller firm environment.
