Role Summary
Assistant Accountant/Management Accountant working closely with the Part Time Head of Finance and an existing Assistant Accountant. Responsible for transaction processing, ownership of Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet for designated areas, supporting day‑to‑day finance and driving process improvement.
Key Responsibilities- Processing supplier invoices and reconciling supplier statements
- Managing supplier queries and payment runs
- Reconciling cash received against sales activity
- Ensuring accurate sales invoicing and VAT accounting
- Daily bank reconciliations and cashflow forecasting
- Assisting with production of monthly management accounts
- Balance sheet reconciliations and financial analysis
- Managing monthly payroll processes and liaising with outsourced providers
- VAT submissions within agreed deadlines
- Supporting ongoing finance process improvements and projects
Candidates should have experience in the hospitality sector in a hands‑on finance role covering transactional finance, VAT returns, payroll and month‑end responsibilities. They must be self‑motivated, trustworthy, able to work independently and collaborate effectively with the wider team. Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced, evolving environment are essential. Hospitality experience is mandatory; experience with Fourth payroll systems is advantageous but not essential.
Candidates may be studying, qualified by experience or already operating at an Assistant Accountant level.
Based at the Ettington site three days per week, with flexible work‑from‑home for the remaining two days. Standard hours 9 am‑5 pm – hybrid working schedule.
Compensation & BenefitsSalary £30,000 – £40,000 per annum (depending on experience). Holidays: 24 days plus statutory bank holidays and birthday leave. Other benefits include study support considered, pension, free parking and Cult of Machine Benefits.
