About the Job
An excellent opportunity has become available for an Assistant Accountant to join a global organisation with a well-established finance function based in Belfast. This role offers exposure to a broad range of financial reporting and accounting activities while providing excellent opportunities for professional development within a collaborative and supportive team.
Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day finance function, assisting with financial reporting, maintaining robust financial controls, and contributing to budgeting, forecasting, and compliance activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation of management accounts, budgets, and financial forecasts.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes.
- Complete weekly bank reconciliations and assist with cashflow reporting.
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with internal controls.
- Prepare statutory accounts and financial reports.
- Monitor financial performance and investigate variances where required.
- Respond to finance-related queries from internal stakeholders.
- Assist with compliance activities and financial control processes.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the finance function.
- Build strong working relationships across the wider business while promoting a collaborative team environment.
Previous Experience
- Degree educated in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline (or equivalent vocational qualification).
- Previous experience working within a finance or accounting environment.
- Understanding of day-to-day accounting processes and financial controls.
- Experience supporting financial reporting and regulatory compliance activities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, with experience using accounting software.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across multiple departments.
- A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop professionally.
