Description

SENIOR PORTFOLIO ACCOUNTANT
  • Rendall & Rittner
    • Highly Competitive
    • Hybrid - London (Vauxhall)
ROLE OVERVIEW

You will play a pivotal role in delivering timely, accurate and insightful financial reporting across a diverse residential portfolio, ensuring our clients and residents receive an exceptional, transparent service. As a trusted partner to operational teams and client directors, you will turn numbers into clear actions, strengthening financial discipline, cashflow and compliance.

This is a hybrid role with meaningful flexibility and collaboration: you will spend two days per week in our London office at 13B St George Wharf, London SW8 2LE
, and the rest working from home. You will bring a calm, solutions-focused approach, shaping better ways of working and raising standards across the portfolio.

ROLE EXPECTATIONS

Most days, you will own the end-to-end accounting cycle for your portfolio-completing month-end close, reconciliations, service charge accounts and insightful variance analysis. You will regularly partner with Property Managers and Client Directors, resolve queries with pace, and lead smooth year-end and audit processes. You will also drive process improvements and strengthen controls.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
  • Service charge accounts and year-end packs delivered right first time and on or ahead of deadline.
  • Clean audits with minimal adjustments and clear, professional communication with auditors and clients.
  • Robust cashflow management: accurate reconciliations, timely income recovery and well-controlled spend.
  • Insightful reporting that informs decisions, highlights risks early and surfaces actionable opportunities.
  • Strong partnerships with operational teams and clients, evidenced by trust and positive feedback.
  • Continuous improvement realised through simplified processes, better controls and smarter reporting.
HOW YOU'LL SPEND MOST OF YOUR TIME
  • Producing accurate service charge accounts, month-end close, journals, accruals/prepayments and bank reconciliations.
  • Preparing budgets and forecasts with clear commentary and variance analysis for stakeholders.
  • Leading the year-end timetable, liaising with auditors, preparing working papers and resolving queries.
  • Partnering with Property Managers and Client Directors to manage financial performance and cashflow.
  • Monitoring debtor balances, overseeing supplier payments and strengthening control environments.
  • Improving processes and reporting, leveraging systems and Excel to increase accuracy and efficiency.
WHO THIS ROLE IS FOR
  • You take ownership for outcomes, balance detail with pragmatism and communicate clearly with non-finance stakeholders.
  • You thrive in a fast-paced, service-led environment and can prioritise across multiple sites and deadlines.
  • You are analytically strong, curious about the "why", and turn data into practical recommendations.
  • You build trust quickly, handle challenging queries with empathy, and follow through until resolution.
  • You enjoy improving processes and sharing knowledge to uplift team capability.
EXPERIENCE THAT HELPS
  • Experience in residential property or service charge accounting, or other multi-entity/portfolio environments.
  • Familiarity with property accounting systems (e.g., Qube, MRI, Yardi) and strong Excel skills.
  • Track record of delivering year-end accounts and supporting external audits.
  • Exposure to cashflow management, debtor control and supplier payment processes.
  • Involvement in process improvement, automation or reporting enhancements.
WHAT WE OFFER
  • Competitive salary, aligned to experience
  • Discretionary bonus
  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
  • Private medical insurance, life assurance and enhanced family leave
  • Fully funded training and professional development
  • Paid sabbaticals as a loyalty reward
  • Pension scheme and employee assistance programme
  • Discounts across travel, retail, fitness and entertainment
