Interim Financial Accountant - Balance Sheet Reconciliations

Location: Maidenhead, 2-3 days per week initially, with increased remote working once up to speed
Duration: ASAP to 31 December 2026
Rate: £400-£600 per day Outside IR35

I am looking for an Interim Financial Accountant to lead a balance sheet reconciliation remediation workstream for a complex infrastructure business. The role will define the reconciliation standard, build practical tools, support delivery and move the process towards BAU ownership.

The current reconciliation environment is manual, inconsistent and incomplete. You will work with the Financial Controller to create a clear framework, drive completion and resolve legacy unreconciled items.

• Define the reconciliation standard, format and review approach.
• Build templates, tools and registers for consistent delivery.
• Review reconciliations and identify genuine exceptions.
• Support the team with preparation and remediation where needed.
• Clear legacy balances and document rectification plans.
• Embed a quarterly BAU reconciliation cycle by December 2026.

This role suits a methodical, hands-on accountant who knows what good reconciliation practice looks like and can convert that into a practical process. You will be comfortable working through messy balances, coaching others and keeping momentum.

• Strong balance sheet reconciliation experience.
• Experience designing reconciliation templates and review processes.
• Strong technical grounding in balance sheet integrity.
• Experience clearing legacy balances or remediation backlogs.
• Advanced Excel and strong communication skills.

This is a hands-on remediation role with a clear outcome: create a controlled, repeatable balance sheet reconciliation process.
