About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join our client in Edmonton, Alberta. This role plays a key part in supporting financial operations across the Americas region, with a focus on maintaining accurate records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and contributing to the month-end close process. You’ll collaborate closely with internal departments including payroll, tax, and operations, as well as global colleagues, to ensure financial integrity and operational efficiency.

NOTE:

this position is a singular role in Edmonton and you will support/collaborate with a team sitting in other countries so it is important to be confident, driven and focused.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support monthly financial close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
• Ensure accurate revenue and expense recognition in line with US/CAD GAAP and IFRS.
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including intercompany transactions and fixed assets.
• Assist with inventory tracking, payroll processing, and warranty file maintenance.
• Manage full-cycle accounts payable and receivable processes.
• Prepare cash flow forecasts, bank reconciliations, and support credit control efforts.
• Collaborate with the tax team on compliance and reporting matters.
• Contribute to internal and external audit processes.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and workflow optimization.
• Uphold internal controls and ensure adherence to corporate accounting policies.

What You Bring

• Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, highly preferred to come from a manufacturing or shared services environment.
• Stability in the work history is important as they are seeking a long standing, committed team member.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or an Accounting Diploma) with the additional relevant experience as above.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational abilities.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams and a solid understanding of financial controls.
