About the Company
A fast-growing, remote-first B2B SaaS business serving a specialist commercial sector. The company has built a genuinely flexible, people-first culture, offering strong career progression and professional development as the business continues to scale.
The Role
Reporting directly to the CFO and leading a small finance team, this role holds end-to-end ownership of the revenue cycle, from order through to invoicing, deferred revenue and recognition, alongside ownership of the ERP system, month-end close, management reporting, statutory compliance and the company's wider tax affairs, working closely with external advisors. This is a genuinely broad, hands-on Financial Controller role suited to someone who wants real ownership rather than a narrow, siloed remit.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end revenue recognition process, deferred revenue schedules and recognised revenue, ensuring accurate treatment across multi-currency subscription contracts
- Authorise and resolve complex billing scenarios: upgrades, mid-term contract changes, billing frequency changes and credit notes
- Own the month-end close and review monthly management accounts (P&L, balance sheet and cash flow)
- Deliver monthly management reporting for executive review, including investor reporting packs
- Maintain balance sheet integrity: accruals, prepayments, FX revaluations, payment processor reconciliations and intercompany accounting
- Own and continuously improve accounting policies, procedures and the wider control environment
- Lead the business through external audit, owning the auditor relationship and process documentation
- Ensure statutory accounts and Companies House filings are completed accurately and on time
- Work with external tax advisors on corporate tax, VAT and sales tax compliance, with oversight of quarterly VAT returns
- Lead the annual R&D tax credit claim and liaise on grant applications
- Oversee monthly payroll and commission calculations, providing technical review and approval
- Lead, coach and develop a small finance team, supporting their professional studies and development
- Document processes and cross-train the team to reduce key-person dependency

- Experience in a small or fast-growing business where processes need to be built and scaled
- Experience managing and developing a small team
Desirable:
- Multi-entity, multi-currency experience, particularly UK/North America
- Experience with EMI schemes, cap table administration or investor reporting
- Strong ERP experience, Net Suite strongly preferred
