This opportunity involves refining administrative and financial efficiency within an expanding logistics business. Providing flexible bookkeeping and accounts management support and o perating approximately 3 to 4 hours per week, the role requires attending a weekly 1 to 2-hour in-person meeting in Johannesburg.
Working on Xero, this position requires delivering precise financial administration and executing accurate weekly bank reconciliations . Working closely with business leadership, the incumbent will maintain clean trial balances and prepare statutory return schedules .
Key Responsibilities- Financial Ledger Maintenance: Maintain and systematically update core financial records within the Xero accounting software environment .
- Document Management & Filing: File, organize, name, and track tax invoices and supplier account statements using a consistent digital folder structure .
- Sales Invoice Verification: Review sales invoices to confirm complete details and ensure consistency across transactional records .
- Proactive Internal Follow-up: Follow up consistently with internal personnel via telephone or messaging platforms to retrieve missing or incomplete documentation .
- Statutory Preparation Support: Compile and prepare value-added tax (VAT) reports and associated files within Xero to support formal compliance submissions .
- Bank Reconciliation: Perform thorough weekly bank account reconciliations to ensure ledger accuracy .
- External Stakeholder Liaison: Coordinate and communicate effectively with external accountants, auditors, and VAT consultants when required .
- Process Improvement: Identify documentation discrepancies, ask clarifying questions, and continuously improve administrative workflows and document tracking procedures .
- In-Person Alignment: Attend a weekly 1 to 2-hour in-person meeting at a designated Gauteng location or home office to review operational progress
Proven history of success performing bookkeeping, accounts management, or financial administration functions .
Working knowledge and understanding of South African VAT and core bookkeeping/accounting workflows .
Strong working knowledge of cloud-based document management principles and office utility tools, specifically Microsoft Excel .
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills .
Highly organized with demonstrated attention to detail and strong time-management capabilities .
Based in Gauteng with the availability to commit to 3 to 4 hours of bookkeeping per week and attend a 1 to 2-hour weekly in-person meeting.
Prior bookkeeping or account management experience within import/export, logistics, or trading company environments .
