Audit Semi Senior

Are you an ambitious AUDIT SEMI SENIOR looking to develop your audit career within a growing and supportive practice? Butler Rose Public Practice Northern Division is delighted to be working with an established and growing independent accountancy and audit practice based in Wilmslow.

Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an Audit Semi Senior to strengthen their existing team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an ACA/ACCA part-qualified accountant or experienced audit professional looking to build on their existing experience and progress within practice.

Please Note:

a full UK driving licence and access to a car is essential for this position, as the role involves occasional travel to client premises.

As an Audit Semi Senior, you will work alongside experienced Seniors, Managers and Directors, gaining exposure to the full audit process from planning through to completion.

You will work across a varied client portfolio including motor dealerships, FCA-regulated businesses, charities, retail organisations, UK subsidiaries of international groups and owner-managed businesses.

The role is predominantly audit-focused, with the opportunity to gain additional exposure to accounts preparation and corporation tax depending on your interests and experience.

The practice uses MWP for audit, with IRIS and Tax Calc supporting accounts and corporation tax work. The audit methodology is based on Mercia, providing a structured framework across assignments.

• Assisting with external audit assignments from planning through to completion
• Completing audit testing and taking responsibility for allocated sections of audit files
• Assisting with audit planning and preparation
• Attending client premises to undertake audit fieldwork
• Preparing clear and accurate working papers
• Identifying issues and discussing findings with the Senior or Manager
• Developing strong relationships with clients and providing a professional service
• Working effectively to deadlines and agreed budgets
• Assisting with the preparation and completion of audit files using MWP
• Supporting accounts and corporation tax work where appropriate
• Developing your technical knowledge and professional skills
• Supporting junior colleagues as your experience and confidence develop

We are looking for someone who is technically capable, enthusiastic and keen to progress their career within practice.

You will ideally have:

• ACA or ACCA studies underway, or a strong desire to progress professionally
• Previous experience within an accountancy practice environment
• Practical experience of external audit
• A good understanding of audit procedures and statutory requirements
• Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
• Good communication skills and confidence dealing with clients
• Experience using audit software MWP experience would be advantageous
• Familiarity with IRIS and Tax Calc would be beneficial
• Exposure to Mercia methodology would be an advantage but is not essential
• A proactive, positive and collaborative approach
• The ability to take responsibility for your own work while working effectively as part of a team
• A full UK driving licence and access to a car
