Cost Accountant

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and analytical Cost Accountant to join their team and provide essential financial insights into production costs and operational efficiencies. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere in South Africa. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining cost accounting systems, analyzing manufacturing variances, and supporting strategic decisions related to pricing and profitability.

This role is critical for optimizing financial performance and ensuring accurate costing in a competitive market.

• Develop, implement, and maintain cost accounting systems and methodologies.
• Analyze manufacturing costs, variances, and inventory valuation.
• Prepare regular reports on product costs, profitability, and operational efficiencies.
• Assist in the budgeting and forecasting process for manufacturing operations.
• Collaborate with production and operations teams to identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Support product costing for new product introductions and pricing strategies.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; professional certification (CIMA, CMA) is highly preferred.
• 3-5 years of experience in cost accounting, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of cost accounting principles, inventory valuation, and variance analysis.
• Proficiency in cost accounting software and advanced Excel skills.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills.
• Ability to work independently and effectively in a remote setting.
