Want Out of Audit? – Financial Reporting Manager
Are you an Audit Manager or experienced Assistant Manager looking to move away from Audit, but don't necessarily want to make the jump into industry?
A leading Top 10 accountancy firm is looking for a qualified accountant to join its specialist Accounting & Financial Reporting team in Southampton.
This is an excellent opportunity to utilise the technical accounting experience you've developed in Audit while moving away from traditional assurance work, audit testing, fieldwork and regular travel.
Rather than auditing financial statements, you'll work directly with clients to help prepare and deliver their financial reporting, working with complex corporate groups and a significant number of private equity-backed businesses.
The RoleYou'll manage a portfolio of complex UK clients, with work including:
Preparing and reviewing statutory financial statements
Group accounts and consolidations
FRS 102 and UK GAAP reporting
Exposure to IFRS reporting
Technical accounting support and advice
Supporting corporate and group reorganisations
Accountant's reports for subsidiary companies
Managing financial reporting projects from planning through to completion
Working directly with Finance Directors and other senior client stakeholders
Managing and developing junior team members
There are also opportunities to undertake short-term client secondments, giving you experience working directly within finance teams without having to make a permanent move into industry.
Who Are We Looking For?You could be an Audit Manager or experienced Assistant Manager who is:
ACA/ACCA qualified or equivalent
Technically strong across financial statements and statutory reporting
Experienced with complex groups and consolidations
Strong in FRS 102, with IFRS exposure beneficial
Experienced managing engagements and reviewing junior staff
Looking to move away from traditional Audit while retaining technically challenging work
You don't need previous experience within a dedicated Financial Reporting team if you have developed the relevant technical experience through Audit.
Why Make the Move? This role offers a genuine alternative to the traditional Audit career path.
You'll retain the complex clients, technical accounting, progression and senior stakeholder exposure of a Top 10 firm while moving away from much of the testing, fieldwork and travel associated with Audit.
You'll also develop experience across financial reporting, consolidations and technical accounting that is highly transferable to future Group Financial Reporting, Technical Accounting and senior industry finance positions.
The role offers two core office days per week with the option to work from home for the remaining three days, alongside very limited travel.
