ASAP Salary Equivalent: £60,000 - £70,000 (pro rata) / Competitive Day Rate The Opportunity An established business based in St Helens is seeking an experienced finance professional to join the team on an initial 3-month contract to support a busy year-end period. This is an excellent opportunity for an accountant with a practice, audit or technical accounting background who can quickly add value and support the finance team through year-end and audit requirements.

You'll work closely with senior finance stakeholders, ensuring reporting deadlines are met and that the year-end process runs smoothly.

Key Responsibilities Supporting the preparation of year-end statutory accounts Assisting with the external audit process and acting as a key contact for auditors Preparing audit schedules, reconciliations and supporting documentation Reviewing and reconciling balance sheet accounts Producing month-end and year-end journals where required Supporting the preparation of financial statements Investigating and resolving accounting queries and discrepancies Ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal controls Assisting with tax, VAT and other statutory reporting requirements Supporting cash flow, accrual and prepayment reviews Analysing financial data and providing insight to support decision-making Assisting with ad hoc finance projects during the contract period About You ACA / ACCA qualified or qualified by experience Previous experience within practice, audit or a technical accounting role Strong understanding of statutory accounts and year-end processes Experience liaising with external auditors Excellent Excel skills Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Able to work independently and hit the ground running Available to start immediately or at short notice What's on Offer?
