This opportunity would suit a qualified Accounting Technician or Bookkeeper, or an experienced finance administrator with strong bookkeeping experience, looking for a role offering flexibility, development and exposure to a diverse portfolio of clients.

About the Job Working as part of the bookkeeping team, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records for a portfolio of clients, primarily using Quick Books and other cloud accounting systems. You will have the opportunity to work across bookkeeping, reconciliations, VAT returns and the preparation of management and annual accounts, while working closely with both clients and the wider bookkeeping team.

Key responsibilities include:

Maintain clients bookkeeping records using accounting software, primarily Quick Books. Process invoices, bank transactions and other bookkeeping entries accurately and efficiently. Complete key balance sheet reconciliations and maintain accurate client records. Process financial information received through third-party software, primarily Dext. Assist in managing a portfolio of bookkeeping clients, including requesting monthly or quarterly information and responding to client queries. Liaise with an off-site bookkeeping team to ensure work is completed accurately and within agreed deadlines.

Prepare VAT returns for clients in compliance with Making Tax Digital (MTD) requirements. Assist with the preparation of management accounts and annual accounts for companies, sole traders and partnerships. Work collaboratively with the wider team to ensure deadlines are met. Provide administrative support to the department. Learn and operate new systems, processes and applications as required. Previous experience Essential:
Experience in bookkeeping, accounts administration or a similar finance support role. Experience using cloud accounting software to maintain accurate bookkeeping records. Good working knowledge of Quick Books or similar cloud accounting software, alongside Excel. Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy when processing financial information. Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.

Self-motivated with the ability to work on own initiative with minimal supervision. Good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to deal professionally with clients and colleagues. GCSE Maths and English, or equivalent, at Grade C or above. Desirable:
At least 3 years relevant experience within an accountancy practice, bookkeeping bureau or similar environment. Experience using Dext, Auto Entry, Xero, Sage or other cloud accounting software. Qualified Accounting Technician or qualified Bookkeeper. Experience assisting with the preparation of management accounts and year-end accounts. Experience coordinating workflow across a portfolio of clients.
