- Leadership: Identify opportunities to build out the technical accounting function over time, contributing to team design and resourcing plans as the Group grows
- Commercial & Deal Advisory: Partner with Trading, Origination, and Legal from deal inception to structure complex transactions, assess accounting impacts, and draft technical papers for leadership and the Board.
- Policy & M&A Integration: Build and embed the Group Accounting Manual within 12 months. Lead the technical integration of recent and future acquisitions (IFRS
3) and support group restructurings. - Compliance & Reporting: Lead on new IFRS implementation, statutory accounts preparation, and complex financial instrument accounting (IFRS 9 & 13).
- Audit Lead: Serve as the primary technical contact for external auditors, defending complex policy positions and ensuring smooth sign-offs.
Person Requirements
- Qualification: ACA (or equivalent) from Big 4 with 5–7 years’ PQE.
- Experience: Track record operating as a senior technical accounting authority within energy, utilities, or commodity trading environments.
- Technical Expertise: Deep practical knowledge of IFRS 9 (derivatives/hedging), IFRS 13 (fair value hierarchy), and IFRS 3 (M&A/PPA).
- Commercial Mindset: Proven ability to embed within deal teams, advise on live transactions, and translate complex technical standards for non-finance stakeholders.
What’s on Offer

- Hybrid working (2–3 days/week in City of London)
- Clear path to build and lead your own team
