Remote Senior Accountant

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Accountant to join their fully remote finance department, operating remotely from Paarl . This vital role involves overseeing general ledger functions, preparing financial statements, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the company's financial records. You will collaborate closely with internal teams and external auditors, playing a key part in month-end and year-end closing processes.

• Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable and receivable.
• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS.
• Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Assist with the preparation of tax returns and regulatory filings.
• Coordinate and manage the external audit process, providing necessary documentation and support.
• Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to improve efficiency and internal controls.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Professional qualification such as CA(SA), ACCA, or CIMA is required.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within the financial services industry.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel skills.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS standards and South African tax legislation.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
