Part-Time Accountant – Charity Sector Reading, Berkshire / Hybrid 15 hours per week £22 per hour Permanent Are you an experienced Accountant looking for a genuinely flexible part-time role where your work can make a difference? We’re recruiting on behalf of an established Reading-based charity for an experienced Part-Time Accountant to take ownership of its day-to-day finance function. This is a varied, hands-on role covering everything from transactional accounting and reconciliations through to management accounts, budgeting, forecasting and providing meaningful financial insight to the leadership team and Trustees.

The organisation is keen to find someone who can work independently, take ownership and bring fresh ideas to the finance function. There is real scope for the right person to move beyond simply producing the numbers and help the charity make better use of its financial information through analysis, commentary and forward planning. What you'll be doing You’ll maintain accurate financial records, process payments and reconciliations, prepare management accounts and financial reports, monitor cash flow and support the annual budgeting and year-end process.

You'll also oversee resident-related financial accounts, liaise with payroll providers, banks and external auditors, and provide financial information and analysis to support management and Trustee decision-making. The charity currently uses Xero alongside the Pyramid Housing Management system. Previous Pyramid experience isn't essential as training can be provided. What we're looking for You'll ideally be AAT qualified or have equivalent practical accounting experience, with a strong track record of maintaining financial records and producing management accounts.

You'll be confident using accounting software such as Xero and comfortable working independently across both the hands-on and analytical elements of a finance role.

Experience with in a charity, housing or almshouse environment would be useful but isn't essential. More important is someone who is accurate, self-sufficient, approachable and interested in the purpose behind the numbers. Flexibility This is a permanent, 15-hour-per-week position with considerable flexibility around how those hours are structured. You'll need to work some hours on a Monday, when the wider team comes together, and attend occasional meetings in Reading.

Outside of this, there is flexibility to work from home or the office and to structure the remaining hours across the week. Salary: £22 per hour
