Salary: £30,000 - £36,000 Depending on experience

Our client is a multi-office, chartered accountancy firm, providing services across Wiltshire, Somerset, Bristol and beyond. The firm offers a broad range of services including accounts, audit, business and personal tax, bookkeeping, payroll, business advisory and R&D tax credits. They also provide specialist services including crypto tax, wealth planning, wills and probate, giving clients access to accounting, tax, business and legal expertise under one firm.

This role involves preparing accounts, tax returns, VAT returns and monthly bookkeeping for a varied portfolio of sole traders, partnerships and limited companies. The position also includes processing invoices, reconciliations and journals while working closely with clients and colleagues to ensure accurate information and deadlines are maintained. The successful candidate will also support client onboarding, contribute to excellent service delivery and identify opportunities to improve processes across the practice.
Position Duties
Prepare accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies for review.
Prepare personal and business tax returns for review, in line with experience and level of responsibility.
Complete monthly bookkeeping for a diverse portfolio of clients across a range of industries.
Process sales and purchase invoices accurately and efficiently.
Carry out bank and credit card reconciliations, ensuring records are complete and accurate.
Prepare and post journals, including payroll, depreciation, accruals and prepayments.
Prepare VAT returns for review and submission.
Liaise effectively with clients and colleagues to obtain accurate information and ensure deadlines are met.
Assist with the onboarding of new clients and contribute to delivering a high standard of client service.
Work collaboratively with colleagues across the practice, providing flexible support to meet wider team requirements.
Identify and contribute to opportunities to improve internal processes and enhance the service provided to clients.
Position Requirements
Previous experience preparing accounts, alongside bookkeeping and VAT work.
Experience preparing personal and/or business tax returns, or the willingness and ability to develop these skills.
An AAT or similar accounting qualification is desirable, although candidates who are qualified by experience will also be considered.
Experience using Xero or similar cloud-based accounting software.
A well-organised and methodical approach, with excellent attention to detail.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with confidence in dealing directly with clients.
Effective time management and the ability to prioritise workloads and manage multiple deadlines.
A flexible and collaborative approach, with a willingness to support colleagues across different areas of the practice.
Position Remuneration
Strong work from home opportunity with, 3 office-based days and 2 work from home days available, upon successful completion of probationary period.
Salary up £36,000 dependent on experience.
20 days of annual, plus 8 bank holidays, along with company pension.
