Interim Year End Accountant (3-Month Contract)
Location: St Helens
Contract Length: 3 Months
Working Pattern: 4 Days On-Site 1 Day Working from Home
Start Date: ASAP
Salary Equivalent: £60,000 - £70,000 (pro rata) / Competitive Day Rate
An established business based in St Helens is seeking an experienced finance professional to join the team on an initial 3-month contract to support a busy year-end period.
This is an excellent opportunity for an accountant with a practice, audit or technical accounting background who can quickly add value and support the finance team through year-end and audit requirements.
You'll work closely with senior finance stakeholders, ensuring reporting deadlines are met and that the year-end process runs smoothly.
- Supporting the preparation of year-end statutory accounts
- Assisting with the external audit process and acting as a key contact for auditors
- Preparing audit schedules, reconciliations and supporting documentation
- Reviewing and reconciling balance sheet accounts
- Producing month-end and year-end journals where required
- Supporting the preparation of financial statements
- Investigating and resolving accounting queries and discrepancies
- Ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal controls
- Assisting with tax, VAT and other statutory reporting requirements
- Supporting cash flow, accrual and prepayment reviews
- Analysing financial data and providing insight to support decision-making
- Assisting with ad hoc finance projects during the contract period
- ACA / ACCA qualified or qualified by experience
- Previous experience within practice, audit or a technical accounting role
- Strong understanding of statutory accounts and year-end processes
- Experience liaising with external auditors
- Excellent Excel skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Able to work independently and hit the ground running
- Available to start immediately or at short notice
- Immediate start
- Salary equivalent of £60,000 - £70,000 plus potential flexibility for the right candidate
- Hybrid working model with 4 days on-site and 1 day working from home
