Management Accountant

Available immediately and looking for your next interim accounting opportunity? MCS Group are proud to be partnering with a public sector organisation in their search for an Interim Accountant. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant with strong public sector experience to provide financial, governance and corporate support within a busy organisation.

The Role:

Lead on the preparation of annual accounts, ensuring compliance with relevant public sector legislation and financial reporting standards. Oversee financial systems, reporting and analysis, providing accurate information to senior leadership and committees to support financial management. Support corporate governance, financial controls, audit activity and the review of relevant policies and procedures. Manage and oversee procurement and contract management activity, ensuring compliance with organisational requirements.

Support funding, budgeting and resource management processes, including engagement with key external stakeholders. Provide leadership and guidance to the finance team, supporting the effective delivery of financial and corporate services. Contribute to process improvement, business continuity and wider organisational projects as required. The responsibilities outlined are not exhaustive and may evolve throughout the assignment.

The Person The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and experience:
Essential:
Fully qualified accountant and current member of a recognised professional accountancy body, with experience preparing annual accounts. Strong experience across financial accounting, reporting and corporate governance within a public sector or similar environment. Experience providing financial information and analysis to senior leadership, committees and external stakeholders. Excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and lead a team effectively.

What's in it for you? Salary: £47,000-£49,000 annual equivalent. Annual leave: 37 days total.
