Auditor Accountant, Public Accounting
Smart Solutions CPA is looking for an experienced senior auditor with exceptional people skills to join our assurance practice in a unique, client-focused role.
This is not a traditional senior auditor position. In addition to performing audit work, you will serve as the client's primary guide throughout the engagement. You will attend client meetings, help clients understand PBC requests, coordinate open items, and work alongside them to keep the audit moving forward.
Many clients find audit terminology and documentation requests difficult to understand. We are looking for someone patient, approachable, emotionally intelligent, and willing to provide the extra guidance clients sometimes need. You should be able to translate technical audit requests into plain language without making the client feel overwhelmed or uncomfortable.
What You'll Do- Perform and review audit procedures on assurance engagements
- Attend client meetings and remain closely involved throughout the audit
- Manage and coordinate PBC requests and outstanding items
- Explain audit requests to clients in clear, practical language
- Help clients identify appropriate records and supporting documentation
- Follow up consistently while maintaining a positive client relationship
- Coordinate between the client and the audit engagement team
- Identify potential delays or misunderstandings before they become problems
- Create a supportive, organized, and professional audit experience
- Maintain auditor independence and ensure that all assistance remains within applicable professional standards
- Several years of audit or assurance experience, preferably in public accounting
- Strong understanding of financial statements and common audit procedures
- Outstanding communication and relationship-building skills
- High emotional intelligence, patience, empathy, and sound judgment
- Someone who genuinely enjoys helping clients solve problems
- Ability to explain technical requests without using unnecessary jargon
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills
- Comfortable working independently in a remote environment
- CPA license is helpful but not required
- You enjoy audit work but are tired of the traditional public accounting culture
- You want meaningful client interaction instead of spending all day checking boxes
- You are a stay-at-home parent or experienced professional seeking a flexible, part-time role
- You want to remain in assurance without sacrificing your family life or personal well-being
- You believe an audit can be rigorous while still being respectful, supportive, and human
- Colleagues often describe you as patient, calm, approachable, and excellent with people
This is a part-time, remote position. The schedule can be flexible, but availability during client meetings and regular business hours will be necessary. Hours may vary depending on engagement activity and deadlines.
About the RoleOur goal is to deliver high-quality audits while giving clients the support they need to succeed. You will act as the client's internal advocate and guide - not as their legal representative - while maintaining the independence and professional skepticism required of an auditor.
If you have strong assurance experience, exceptional people skills, and want to practice auditing in a more balanced and client-centered environment, we would love to hear from you.
