£30,000 - £40,000 | Leighton Buzzard | Accountancy Practice

If you've built a good grounding in accounts but don't want to become pigeonholed into doing the same thing every day, this could be a very good next move.

A growing accountancy practice near Leighton Buzzard is looking for an Accounts & Tax Semi-Senior to join its general practice team.

They're deliberately looking for somebody with broader experience
. You'll work across accounts preparation, corporation tax and other areas of compliance while gradually taking more ownership of clients as you develop.

You'll work with a varied portfolio of predominantly owner-managed businesses, including:

• Preparing statutory accounts for limited companies
• Preparing accounts for sole traders and partnerships
• Corporation tax computations and CT600s
• Supporting personal tax work where required
• Preparing working papers and lead schedules
• Liaising directly with clients to obtain information and resolve queries
• Managing deadlines across your portfolio
• Supporting Seniors and Managers on more complex assignments
• Developing towards greater responsibility for clients and reviewing work

You don't need to be qualified or the finished article.

What matters is that you've already gained a solid grounding within a UK accountancy practice and are ready to build on it.

Ideally, you'll have:

• Around 18 months+ experience within an accountancy practice
• Hands-on accounts preparation experience
• Exposure to corporation tax
• Experience working with owner-managed businesses
• Confidence communicating directly with clients
• Good organisation and attention to detail
• A genuine interest in developing broader general practice experience

You could be studying towards ACA or ACCA
, be AAT qualified, or simply have developed your experience through working in practice.

The firm has grown significantly and is continuing to build its team, but this isn't a role where you'll disappear into one narrow department.

You'll get exposure across different areas of general practice, work directly with clients and have the opportunity to progress as your technical ability develops.

They're also a particularly technology-led practice
, using cloud accounting extensively and investing in their own systems and software to improve how work is delivered.

For somebody currently at Assistant or Semi-Senior level who wants more variety, responsibility and a clearer route forward, there's plenty of room to grow.

Salary: £30,000 - £40,000 depending on experience

Location: Leighton Buzzard

Hybrid: One day working from home after probation

Study support: Available where applicable

Progression: Clear opportunity to develop towards Senior level
