Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Legal Bookkeeper on behalf of an established California-based law firm specializing in comprehensive legal services for businesses and individuals. This is a full-time, fully remote opportunity for professionals residing in California.
POSITION OVERVIEWThe Legal Bookkeeper will play a key role in managing daily financial operations, maintaining accurate accounting records, and overseeing client trust accounts for a well-established law firm. This position is responsible for supporting bookkeeping, reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, and client billing processes while ensuring accuracy and compliance with legal accounting practices. The ideal candidate is a proactive, detail-oriented, and highly organized professional who thrives in an independent, remote working environment.

Manage daily bookkeeping and general accounting activities, ensuring accurate financial records, proper documentation, and efficient financial operations.
Perform bank reconciliations and oversee client trust accounting, including applying retainers, processing refunds, reconciling trust balances, and monitoring account activity.
Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable, including invoice processing, payment tracking, and resolving outstanding account discrepancies.
Reconcile client credit card payment transactions through Law Pay and track, categorize, and reconcile business credit card expenses.
Support client billing and accounting operations by responding to inquiries, processing client credit card payments, and opening new client matters in Centerbase.
Maintain organized financial records, proactively identify accounting discrepancies, and collaborate with internal team members to support timely and accurate financial processes.
QUALIFICATIONSStrong general accounting and bookkeeping experience, preferably within a law firm or professional services environment.
Proficiency in bank reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial recordkeeping.
Experience with client trust accounting, including retainer applications, client refunds, and trust account reconciliations, strongly preferred.
Proficiency with Quick Books and Centerbase strongly preferred; familiarity with Law Pay and legal billing systems is highly desirable.
Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to independently manage multiple priorities while demonstrating reliability, responsiveness, and initiative.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITSThis full-time, direct-hire opportunity offers a competitive annual salary of $70,000–$90,000 , depending on experience and qualifications. The position is fully remote for candidates residing in California, with a regular work schedule of 9:00 AM–6:00 PM .
