The Senior Financial Compliance Analyst is responsible for supporting and strengthening financial compliance across key Financial Operations processes, with primary ownership of unclaimed property compliance and post-payment Accounts Payable (AP) audits. This role will manage regulatory compliance activities, identify financial and operational risks, perform data-driven audits, and partner across teams to implement sustainable controls and process improvements.

The ideal candidate combines strong analytical capabilities with an understanding of accounting, compliance, and internal controls. This individual will be expected to independently identify risks and control gaps, investigate root causes, recommend corrective actions, and help drive improvements that reduce financial exposure and increase operational accuracy.

Key Responsibilities Unclaimed Property Compliance
  • Own the end-to-end unclaimed property/escheatment process across applicable jurisdictions, ensuring compliance with state reporting and filing requirements.
  • Manage annual compliance calendars, reporting deadlines, dormancy requirements, due diligence activities, filings, and remittances.
  • Perform data analysis and reconciliation to identify potentially reportable property and ensure completeness and accuracy of filings.
  • Coordinate required due diligence and outreach to property owners prior to escheatment.
  • Maintain supporting documentation and audit trails for all filings and compliance activities.
  • Monitor changes in unclaimed property regulations and assess potential impacts to existing processes and controls.
  • Serve as a primary Financial Operations point of contact for internal and external unclaimed property audits.
  • Partner with Tax, Legal, Accounting, Treasury, AP, AR, Payroll, and other stakeholders to resolve complex unclaimed property matters.
  • Identify opportunities to improve or automate unclaimed property identification, reporting, reconciliation, and filing processes.
Post-Payment AP Audit & Financial Controls
  • Develop and execute risk-based post-payment audit procedures across Accounts Payable transactions.
  • Analyze payment activity to identify potential duplicate payments, incorrect accounting or coding, over payments, erroneous payments, and other control exceptions.
  • Perform targeted reviews of higher-risk transaction populations, vendors, payment types, or processes.
  • Investigate identified exceptions, determine financial impact, and coordinate recovery or correction activities as appropriate.
  • Track audit findings, financial recoveries, recurring errors, and control gaps to identify trends and areas requiring intervention.
  • Partner with AP and other operational teams to strengthen preventative and detective controls.
  • Support the development of automated or data-driven monitoring to proactively identify potential payment and compliance risks.
Root Cause Analysis & Process Improvement
  • Lead root cause analysis for recurring compliance issues, payment errors, and control failures.
  • Translate findings into actionable recommendations and partner with process owners to implement corrective and preventative actions.
  • Identify opportunities to eliminate manual processes, strengthen system controls, and increase automation.
  • Track remediation plans through completion and validate that implemented solutions effectively address identified risks.
  • Use data and trend analysis to prioritize improvement opportunities based on financial exposure, frequency, and business impact.
Governance, Controls & Documentation
  • Develop, maintain, and periodically review SOPs, controls documentation, process maps, and supporting compliance documentation.
  • Support SOX, internal audit, external audit, and other financial control activities as required.
  • Ensure processes maintain appropriate documentation, evidence, approvals, and segregation of duties.
  • Develop reporting and KPIs to provide visibility into compliance performance, audit findings, recoveries, and outstanding risks.
  • Escalate material financial or compliance risks to appropriate leadership and stakeholders.
Cross-Functional Partnership & Leadership
  • Build strong partnerships across Financial Operations, Accounting, Tax, Legal, Treasury, Internal Audit, Technology, and other relevant teams.
