Senior Accountant – Starbucks, New York, USA

As a Senior Accountant in Corporate Accounting, you will be part of a brilliant crew that helps our growing and complex international business. Your group leads the accounting for multiple regions of the business, including company treasury activities, reimbursement and benefits, sustainability tasks, commercial development, G&A, and other corporate capabilities.

• Prepare and review journal entries for accuracy and compliance with company policies and applicable accounting standards.
• Reconcile accounts receivable and other account reconciliations prepared by others.
• Maintain and improve accounting systems and processes, recommending and implementing upgrades to current systems and procedures.
• Assist month‑end and quarter‑end close by performing trend and variance analysis and supporting the close process.
• Assist with quarterly income and balance sheet reporting and forecasting, and produce ad‑hoc reporting and analysis to support business operational, financial, and strategic decisions.
• Assist in developing and maintaining global accounting standards, researching new or current accounting guidance for corporate transactions, summarizing and recommending appropriate accounting approaches.
• Train and coach others—support the manager with facilitating peer learning, tracking day‑to‑day tasks, setting team priorities, and leading or assisting special projects as assigned.

• Experience in accounting at an expert level, including general ledger entries, account reconciliation, reporting and analysis (three or more years).
• Bachelor’s degree required; a diploma in Accounting, Finance or a related subject preferred.
• Proficiency in an ERP system and business intelligence/reporting tools (e.g., Hyperion and Oracle) preferred.
• CPA preferred.
• Public accounting experience preferred.
