Sr. Cost Accountant

Description

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Cost Accountant to support a six-week Contract assignment in the Westchester County, NY area.. This hybrid opportunity combines on-site collaboration three days per week with remote work on the remaining two days. The role is suited for a detail-oriented finance specialist with a strong background in manufacturing environments who can provide accurate cost insights, strengthen overhead analysis, and contribute quickly in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities:

- Analyze manufacturing costs, overhead spending, and standard cost structures to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improved financial performance.

- Maintain and review standard costing data to help ensure product costing is accurate, consistent, and aligned with operational activity.

- Prepare detailed cost reports and variance analyses for leadership, highlighting key drivers that affect margins and production expenses.

- Partner with finance and operations stakeholders to evaluate inventory valuation, cost allocations, and the financial impact of manufacturing activity.

- Support month-end cost accounting processes, including reconciliations, journal entries, and reporting tied to production and overhead.

- Assess existing cost accounting practices and recommend improvements that enhance reporting quality, controls, and decision-making.

- Provide accounting support related to manufacturing financial processes, including any relevant transition-related cost activities when needed.

Requirements

Cost Accounting experience in a Manufacturing environment required, advanced Excel skills also required, D365 experience a plus but not required
