Financial Accountant

A growing conglomerate with diverse interests is seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Financial Accountant to join their finance team based in Soweto , Gauteng. This role will be instrumental in supporting the accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial record-keeping, and assisting with financial reporting. • Process and record financial transactions accurately in the general ledger.
• Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring timely processing and reconciliation.
• Perform bank reconciliations and other balance sheet account reconciliations.
• Support the month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Assist with the preparation of audit working papers for external auditors.
• Ensure compliance with company accounting policies and procedures.
• Maintain fixed asset registers and process related transactions.
• Support the finance team with ad-hoc reporting and analysis as required.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of accounting processes and systems.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent qualification.
• Completion of, or progress towards, a professional accounting qualification (e.g., SAIPA, SAICA articles) is preferred.
• 1-3 years of experience in a financial accounting or bookkeeping role.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Pastel, Sage, Quick Books) and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and practices.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Understanding of VAT and PAYE regulations is a plus.
