Accounting Lead

Our client is an insurance group. They seek an Accounting Lead to join their Stamford, CT office.

• Compile quarterly and annual U.S. GAAP-compliant financial statements, including supporting schedules and disclosures
• Manage the preparation and timely filing of U.S. Statutory quarterly and annual statements with the NAIC, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance
• Create management reports and presentations summarizing financial results, trends, and key performance indicators for senior leadership
• Coordinate with internal departments (e.g., Actuarial, Tax, Treasury, Legal) and external stakeholders (e.g., auditors, regulators) to gather and validate financial data
• Implement and monitor internal control procedures to ensure the integrity of financial reporting and SOX compliance
• Analyze quarterly expenses and balance sheet line items of consolidated financial statements
• Support the monthly and quarterly close process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis
• Facilitate the adoption of new accounting standards and process improvements to enhance reporting efficiency and accuracy
• Oversee internal and external audits, providing documentation and responding to audit inquiries
• Execute other related duties and special projects to support the Corporate Accounting team and broader organization

• 3-7 years of accounting experience
• Insurance industry experience required
• Public/private/combo
• Strong knowledge of GAAP
• Strong technical experience
• CPA preferred
