Remote Payroll Accountant

• Manage the end-to-end payroll process for all employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Process payroll inputs, including new hires, terminations, salary changes, and bonuses.
• Ensure compliance with all South African payroll tax laws (PAYE, UIF, SDL) and submit relevant returns.
• Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve any discrepancies.
• Generate and distribute payroll reports to management.
• Liaise with external payroll providers and relevant authorities.
• Assist with month-end closing activities related to payroll expenses.
• Maintain accurate employee payroll records.
• Stay updated on changes in payroll legislation and best practices.
• Provide support for payroll-related queries from employees and management.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Proven experience (minimum 4 years) as a Payroll Accountant or in a similar payroll-focused role.
• In-depth knowledge of South African payroll legislation and tax requirements.
• Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., VIP Payroll, Sage Payroll) and accounting systems.
• Advanced Excel skills for data analysis and reporting.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles.
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting.
