Accounting & Finance, Tax Accountant, Tax Manager, Tax Advisor
$130,000–$160,000 Base Salary + Performance Bonus
You're good at what you do. But you're ready for something different.
You've spent enough years in public accounting to know what works and what doesn't.
You've reviewed the returns, managed the deadlines, answered the technical questions, and probably wondered why your firm keeps doing things the hard way.
You're tired of busy seasons that consume your life. You're tired of being measured by how many hours you work instead of the value you create.
And you know there's more to being a great CPA than getting tax returns out the door.
If that sounds familiar, keep reading.
The OpportunityCitadel CPA Group is a boutique CPA firm based in Colorado, specializing in tax advisory and compliance for real estate investors, entrepreneurs, and business owners across the country.
We're not trying to be everything to everyone.
We've intentionally built our practice around clients who value proactive tax planning, sophisticated strategies, and a long-term advisory relationship.
We're looking for an experienced Senior Tax Manager who can help lead our tax department, develop our team, and deliver the level of technical expertise and client service our clients expect.
This isn't a position where you'll simply inherit a stack of returns and be told to get them done.
You'll have a real voice in how the department operates and an opportunity to help build something better.
Why This Role Is DifferentPublic accounting has normalized 60–70-hour workweeks during busy season.
We don't believe that's a sustainable way to build a great firm.
Our goal is to create an environment where thoughtful planning, realistic deadlines, efficient processes, and strong team development replace unnecessary overtime.
Tax deadlines are still tax deadlines, and there will be demanding periods. But we believe the solution is better management, not simply asking everyone to work more hours.
We want someone who shares that philosophy and can help us make it a reality.
2. Tax planning isn't an afterthought. It's our business.
Many firms talk about advisory services but spend nearly all their time preparing returns.
At Citadel, proactive tax planning is central to what we do.
Our clients include real estate investors and business owners dealing with:
- Short-term rental tax strategies and material participation
- Real estate professional status and passive activity rules
- Cost segregation studies and accelerated depreciation
- Section 1031 exchanges and real estate transactions
- Partnership and S corporation taxation
- Entity structuring and tax optimization
- Multiyear tax planning and projections
You'll have opportunities to work through complex tax scenarios, develop strategies, build financial models, and help clients make decisions that meaningfully affect their financial future.
We want someone who enjoys figuring out how to save a client $100,000 in taxes just as much as getting their return filed correctly.
3. You'll have the authority to improve how things work.
We aren't looking for someone to maintain the status quo.
We're looking for a leader who can identify bottlenecks, improve workflows, and develop processes that make the entire team more effective.
You'll help establish review standards, improve accountability, and build a department that doesn't depend on one person to answer every technical question.
Have a better way to organize the review process? We want to hear it.
See an opportunity to automate repetitive tasks? Let's explore it.
Think the team needs better training or clearer expectations? You'll help make it happen.
We value people who identify problems, take ownership, and implement solutions.
4. You'll develop people, not just review their work.
We believe a strong tax department is built by developing…
