The Black lining Foundation is a mission‑driven nonprofit working to reverse the negative effects of redlining by building health, wealth, and legacy in historically underserved communities. We are a fast‑paced, startup‑style team committed to social justice, economic wellness, and community healing—and we’re looking for a dynamic and organized Executive Assistant to support our leadership this summer.
About the RoleWhether helping manage the calendar, prepping event materials, or chatting with neighbors at a community garden event
, you’ll be a key part of our mission delivery. This is a hybrid opportunity
, with some remote work and occasional in‑person presence in NYC. We are looking for someone who thrives in a startup environment
, adapts quickly, and can operate independently. As the Executive Assistant to the Executive Team
, you’ll help keep operations flowing, support high‑level initiatives, and occasionally roll up your sleeves in the community, literally.
- A self‑starter with an independent mindset and high level of responsibility
- Strong organization, time management, and communication skills
- Ability to take initiative and manage projects with minimal supervision
- Comfort with both administrative duties and face‑to‑face community engagement
- Experience with (or willingness to learn) platforms like Google Workspace, Canva, and
- Passion for social justice
, nonprofit work
, and community building - Willingness to spend time outdoors and engage in community spaces, including gardens and neighborhood events
- Manage scheduling, meetings, and email coordination for executive team
- Track tasks, goals, and communications via Google Workspace and
- Support the planning and execution of events, community programs, and pop‑ups
- Assist with preparing documents, presentations, and digital materials
- Be present at select in‑person events, engaging attendees, helping with setup, and representing the Foundation
- Provide general support across departments as needed
- Real‑world experience supporting nonprofit leadership and operations
