Job PurposeThe Development Coordinator for the Major Gifts team in External Relations at Stanford Law School provides a full range of administrative services to support the fundraising efforts of four staff as they build and maintain relationships with Stanford Law School alumni, parents and friends to advance the school’s mission, including supporting work in corporate and foundation relations. The Coordinator facilitates the field work of our program staff.
This includes supporting their donor portfolios and volunteer engagement/management. In this fast-paced and highly dynamic office environment, the Development Coordinator reports to the Director of Major Gifts, and collaborates closely with the broader External Relations teams, administrative peers, and others to fulfill duties. We are looking for a candidate who is thorough, efficient, and reliable in their work product. Strong communication, organization, project management and writing skills are a must.

Each member of the External Relations team plays a role in providing the donors with the attention that ensures an exceptionally positive and fulfilling philanthropic and volunteer experience. The Development Coordinator must develop a thorough understanding of the objectives, priorities, and projects of Stanford Law School and Stanford University. They will work closely with all members of the External Relations team to support the full range of activities of the law school’s engagement program.
CoreDuties
- Provide project and administrative support.
- Assist in the design, writing, publication, and production of fundraising materials, for both internal and external audiences in print and online.
- Review and track funds and report on use of gifts, as assigned.
- Process gifts.
- Retrieve information about prospects and donors, update records, and generate simple reports using the university external relations database.
- Assist in the planning, implementation and staffing of events as needed, including registration/check-in for donor and alumni events.
- Track budgets and process reimbursements for department staff.
- Build a network of relevant contacts, and stay informed on current university initiatives and activities.
- Other duties may also be assigned
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree and one-year experience or combination of education and relevant experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated ability with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite and the ability to learn new systems.
- Knowledge of database systems, including Salesforce and/or Oracle.
- Ability to work efficiently, juggle tasks simultaneously, meet deadlines, and achieve goals.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with a wide range of people.
- Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, and exceptional attention to detail and follow-through.

- Ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
- Demonstrated experience with office software.
- Advanced online research capabilities.
Valid California Non-commercial Class Driver's License.
Physical Requirements- Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks
- Frequently stand/walk, sit
- Occasionally grasp forcefully, use a telephone, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 40 pounds
- Rarely writing by hand, sort/file paperwork or parts
- Ability to obtain and maintain a California Non-commercial Class license
May require working flexible hours, including nights and weekends during peak seasons and/or to support events.
