As Assistant Supervisor, the prospective candidate will be responsible for the following tasks:

* Serve as acting supervisor in the absence of the Special Applications Supervisor;

* Assist the Supervisor in coordinating projects and daily unit operations;

* Support implementation of new laws, policies, and procedures as directed;

* Collaborate with relevant parties to troubleshoot system issues, test system changes, and promote use of online licensing services;

* Monitor team performance, assign and review tasks, provide support across all areas of staff work, and proactively report and resolve issues;

* Process and monitor license applications and related documents received in person, online, and by mail;

* Ensure accuracy and compliance with policies through regular quality checks and follow-ups;

* Handle routine payment processing and related math calculations;

* Provide high-volume customer service in person, online, and by phone;

* Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to support efficient application processing;

* Provide backup support to Licensing team members as needed;

* Adhere to all division and agency policies and procedures; and

* Complete all assigned licensing tasks.

Minimum Qualifications

Qualification Requirements

A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and one year of satisfactory clerical experience.

Skills Requirement

Keyboard familiarity with the ability to type at a minimum of 100 key strokes (20 words) per minute.

Residency Requirement

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
